V60 - The easiest 'at home' brewing method for BEGINNERS

The V60 is more than just a pretty coffee dripper – it’s one of the most popular and rewarding manual brewing methods out there. Loved by coffee enthusiasts and home brewers alike, it offers the perfect balance between precision and simplicity, without extortionate costs.

☕ What Is the V60?

Invented by Japanese company Hario in 2004, the V60 gets its name from its 60-degree cone angle and V-shape. Designed with spiral ridges and a single large hole at the bottom, this clever piece of kit gives you maximum control over your brewing. Water flows through evenly, extracting all the subtle notes and complexity of your coffee.

In other words, it’s the ultimate method to highlight the character of a beautiful single origin or your favourite house blend.

What to Look for in a V60

Not all V60s are created equal. They come in ceramic, plastic, metal, and glass — each with its own perks.

  • Plastic: Affordable, lightweight, retains heat well, and great for beginners.

  • Ceramic: Stylish and excellent at holding heat, but slightly more fragile.

  • Glass: Gorgeous on the counter, but can lose heat quickly.

  • Metal: Durable and sleek, perfect for travel or rugged use.

Pro tip: Consistency is key with the V60. Pair it with a gooseneck kettle for better control over your pour, and always pre-wet your filter!
