Charity & Community
Charity & Community Responsibility Policy
Our commitment
At Silver Oak Coffee, we believe that being a good local business means supporting the
community around us. We aim to contribute our time, resources and space to charitable
organisations, community groups, schools and local activities where we can.
Our approach is to support a broad range of organisations while keeping our commitments
sustainable and manageable for the business.
Charity raffle prizes
We are happy to support charitable fundraising by providing raffle or auction prizes to
charities and community organisations that approach us.
We will provide contributions up to a set total value per calendar year. Requests will be
considered as they are received and are subject to the annual budget being available.
We do not usually give contributions to individuals or businesses, but prefer to give direct to
the charity or organisation who will benefit.
Annual charity or community sponsorship
Each year, Silver Oak Coffee will select one charity, community activity or local initiative
to provide a larger sponsorship contribution.
The chosen organisation or activity varies from year to year, allowing us to support different
causes and community projects over time.
Community use of our space
Where practical, we make our space available to support the local community. This can
include:
● Community meetings
● Workshops and classes
● Talks and presentations
● Local group activities
● Charity and community events
We will consider requests based on availability and the suitability of the activity for our space
and customers. Space is unlikely to be made available at peak times, weekends and school
holidays.
Work experience
We support young people by offering work experience opportunities at Silver Oak Coffee.
We can accommodate up to two students per year, subject to staffing, operational
capacity and the suitability of the placement.
How we manage requests
We want to support as many people and organisations as reasonably possible, while
ensuring that our charitable and community commitments remain sustainable.
All requests are considered individually and are subject to availability, the annual budgets
outlined above, and our ability to accommodate them.
We may not be able to support every request, particularly once our annual budgets or
capacity have been reached. We will aim to respond to requests fairly and consistently.
Our aim
Through these commitments, Silver Oak Coffee aims to be a positive and active part of the
local community — supporting charitable fundraising, creating opportunities for people to
meet and learn, and helping young people gain valuable experience.
Policy review: This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure that it continues to reflect
the needs of our business and community.
