Our Roastery
Our roastery is in the Fens, and is very much a working unit not a retail site. Even though we are in the middle of nowhere we occasionally get visitors wanting a coffee and being sorely disappointed. We have three roasters. The largest one is for production roasting and it does most of the roasting for cafes and coffee shops. The smaller one roasts six kilos at a time, this does the microlots and the filter roasts and our tiny sample roaster roasts just 100g at a time to allow us to test roast beans.
We have three people trained to roast, in addition to Bruce. Bruce leads this team and is stringent about quality and the team has extremely high standards. Cuppings are done each week to test quality. Also at the roastery, the beans are packed and prepared for the retail outlets and shipped out for online orders. Susanne leads a team of two in this work. The aim is to roast to order and ship out each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
